For the most part, capsules are opened and seed sown right away, but I know that seed can be stored in sterile, sealed containers with a desiccant packet.

I don't think the container needs to be sterile since dry seeds themselves are not sterile (pod was opened).

Usually dry seeds can be folded into a piece of coffee filter, wrapped in tin foil and placed in a well sealed container together with a dessicant packet, and then stored in the fridge.

Silica gel packets commonly found with electronic products and such can be regenerated by sticking them in the microwave for a minute. The beads are them dry and ready to absorb moisture again.

i did not open the seed pod. my question is if there is a way to store the seed pod ( without opening it) in such a way that it maintains its viability.

Probably not.

When the seed is fully mature, the capsule dehisces. So-called “green pod” sowing is done a short time before that happens.

If you harvest the capsule then, it will likely continue to dry and open. That maybe your best bet. If you harvest it earlier, I suspect that the seed will not have fully matured and the capsule will decompose.

Green pod sowing is done as soon as possible after harvest. The pod is harvested while immature, and the seeds are often not ready to be dried. The exterior of the pod is decontaminated then it is cut open under sterile conditions. The seeds are sown immediately on sterile media.

I agree with what has been said. Dry seed that fell out of a naturally opening seed pod can be stored dry and cold, sometimes for years. Seed from yet-unopened green pod must be sown immediately, as the seed will spoil quickly.
You could try to dry it out, then store it, but I don't know if that will work.
