Elongated Phalaenopsis stem/leaf - terminal spike?

Hello everyone! I ordered a Phalaenopsis Yukidian 'V3' the other day and my plant has an elongated stem on its newest leaf (picture attached).

Does this mean it had a terminal spike and that I should work on getting some keikis just in case? Or could it just be etiolation from lack of light when grown by the vendor?

It's not a normal looking leaf, but not the sign of a 'terminal' plant. For some reason the base of the leaf is larger than normal, giving it the tube like appearance. This is not likely to be caused by growing conditions.

Thank you, estación seca and Camille. I haven't had big Phals for a long time, but I remember mine not being as leggy as this one. Now I feel silly for worrying too much!

howdy. it was intersting to see your pics, cause we noticed in one batch of seedlings we have the same sort of extended leaf bases, so much so that the stem has a zig zagged appearance. tried to look up some common ancestors to your plant, but those complex hybrids are so...well, complex.

a few names kept popping up like sogo, but phal amabalis seems like the most shared species ancestor between our plants. the hybrid of ours is tying shin phoenix x brother pico sweetheart.

wonder if anyone has seen an amabalis that diplays this sort of growth habit??

according to orchid roots, yours has 40% amabilis heritage, and our has almost 39% combined between the 2 parents (even tho i know it doesn't really work that way)
