Sources for Novelty & other 'Exotic' Phalaenopsis
Hello all! I am just looking for any recommendations for a good source of 'exotic' (if that's the right term) variations of Phalaenopsis, as well as Novelty Phals, including those that come for a relatively pretty penny!
Any recommendations for online sellers or those in or near Orange County, CA are welcome and appreciated.

Peter Lin at Big Leaf Orchids is probably the most well known of the Phal specialist vendors in the USA, and his reputation extends beyond the borders of the country. He does quite a bit of breeding as well, I think mostly with novelty hybrids and Phal gigantea hybrids.
Joseph Wu (Joy Orchids, in Taiwan) is also a famous breeder of novelty phals, and often sells plants via vendors local to a country (usually March and September). That local vendor organizes pre-orders, Wu ships all the plants to them, and they then send them out to the customers. No extra paperwork or shipping fees, everything works as if you ordered from your own country. In Europe the pre-orders are twice a year, but I don't know who is the partner vendor in the USA (found the FB post about it, but they don't give a name).

Shows are starting to happen. Wilson Orchids of Taiwan comes to some, and he has some interesting things, though he is a rather small operation. And good quality. (For instance, I expect him at Fascination of Orchids at the end of September)

Also take a look at Orchids LImited Not a lot of Phals shown now but keep checking back - as they come into spike/bud some very interesting plants become available. Also lots of other unique plants. On the expensive side, but plants are excellent, and some unique hybrids (and great species). Get on their mailing list.

Thank you all for the excellent recommendations. I see a lot of tempting eye candy on these websites!
Who is familiar with Claessen? They seem great as well, though I don't know whether they sell to the US...

If you are referring to a Dutch vendor, no he probably won't ship abroad, and I absolultey do not recommend them. Started out as a top notch nursery years ago, but plant quality has gone done in recent years, and their customer service is poor. They also sell very few orchids nowadays and now focus on trendy (and expensive) aroids and the like.

not to hijack this thread, but beware, I have come across two notable USA phal vendors that could not give two ****'s if their phals are virus free. (I have encounted a number of virused phalaenopsis stem props lately, shame on me for not asking the vendor before purchasing). Not all of us perhaps care about orchid viruses, and perhaps some of us care in general, but don't test regularly, but just saying if you have concerns about infecting your collection you might want to check ahead of time.
