Not to beat a dead horse, but the KelpMax does wonders for my phalanopsis roots. I only lost one out of all my rescues, but they , after months, have only now recovered completely. As said before, the old dried up leaves are toast.

Simply invert a clear plastic bag over the pot and plant, leaving it open at the bottom, and leave it that way between waterings.

One or two of the roots deep in the pot have started to mold over, I think this is not uncommon during potting to have some unhealthy roots start to die, especially if the plant is stressed to start with.

However, to prevent the issue from potentially spreading to other stressed roots, I will do a quick Physan soak after watering on Saturday. I think I will do another Kelp solution soak this week as well.

Other than that, still no visible changes in the plant; will update Saturday.

Remember, orchids do everything slooowwwwly. So don't expect to see progress in just a few days - it will, at best, take several months to see progress in new leaves and roots.

Week 3 Update:

No changes, except that the sheath of the bottom-most leaf is browning. The leaf itself hasn't really changed in terms of colour (no yellowing, drying), which is sort of strange.

Was soaked in water with a bit of physan for 15 mins yesterday.

Losing the oldest leaf is normal... the newest leaves look fine. Patience... 3 weeks is just a blink of the eye in the orchid timeframe.

I also made this rough humidity box for the stuartiana- a large plastic container, with four holes cut into the bottom corners, and two holes at top. I hope this can help improve the humidity levels for the plant, while allowing for some degree of air circulation.

This will be going back onto the windowsill, with the half of the box with the plant going to a spot behind a window mullion so it doesn't get constant direct sunlight, while the half with the paper towels will be in front of the window glass.
