following up the last and least exciting edition of bloom time, we hope this provides you with a little more gamesmanship.

as with all things here at dilapidated orchids galore, we remind you that the most likely outcome is abysmal failure, and implore you to take that into conideration when chooing your oh so important date.

with that out of the way, let's get down to the nitty gritty

this time we present you with the ever popular ld's bear king yk10. we know there are probably stories to tell behind the origin of this plant, but well, we just got it cause the picture looked cool. the plant was purchased just over 1 year ago, and came with 3 small leaves and 2 spent spikes cut back to the stem....so this will be it's 2nd confirmed blooming. last year the plant grew vigorously, putting out 3 large leaves and lots of roots.

the tiny spike nubbin you see in the first pic was noticed just yesterday morning during its weekly watering. it started the first new leaf just about a week ago.

so thems the deets, and the rules are the same as always:

option a: spike stalls or buds blast (multiple non-winners possible)

option b: produces 1-2 flowers - must provide date of first flower opening

option c: produces spike with 3 or more buds - must provide date of first flower opening

special option: "x" - basal keiki!

winner is closest date that has not elapsed

allow me to wax poetic on the current state of the universe....

there was a time, billions of years ago, when man was only a dream in the sleeping little eye of your preferred deity (be it god, or allah, or a turtle, or perhaps even a flying spaghetti monster). one morning, when they opened their eyes on the incomprehensible vastness of reality, they decided that orchids were a pretty good idea.

fast forward a couple years, and now rulers of men inhabit this puny little ball of dust and water. they make big decisions. lives are on the line. important stuff you might say.

but even the lowliest of bacteria know their actions are not nearly as important as YOU WINNING this contest....the most important orchid game of chance available on our humble interwebs.

and because we know all of you are just sitting back, twiddling your thumbs and staring at your withering orchids waiting for an update before you place your oh so important bet - we will give you one tiny update.
2 weeks on now. this should help you all narrow down your guess! and, to secure some tiny amount of crediblity for this fiasco, we are putting a closing date on guesses!

thats right, you now only 14 days from todays date to place your bet! and by my spectacular calculating abilities, that is May 8, 2022.

come on suckers, pony up!! you only get one chance to be a winner in life, and this could be your chance!!
