Giant home for bulbo
OK this isn't my first bulbo but is certainly my first giant one.
It is a miracle I even have a pot for it.
Please give suggestions on how to pot better? Currently it has moss mixed with fine pearlite on bottom and large barks covering the top.
It is a Cirrhopetalum amesianum x Cirrhopetalum mastersianum.

These things do become beasts... The pot diameter is just about right, but it is rather deep. I liked bulb pans (shallow) to give surface area.
Some more ideas here, from the master of Bulbophyllum growing, Bill Thoms. (His specialty)This was from a San Francisco Orchid Society meeting, it's one of the few meeting talks that is in the "public domain" on YouTube. So grab a cup of coffee or glass of wine, sit back, and enjoy. You will get lots of info about growing Bulbophyllums and a lot of other orchids as well.
I messed around with the link, had some problem getting it to play within OB. So if it doesn't work for you by clicking the arrow, the link above the picture takes you to the actual site on YouTube and that also works.

I ended up joining the San Francisco Orchid Society... they had great meetings on Zoom through the COVID close-down, now they're meeting in person but doing hybrid meeings (and still have a majority of the participants on Zoom - like 25 on-site and 50 on Zoom) and doing it very well.

Which one? If you want to "attend" the San Francisco Orchid Society meeting (next one is April 4) you can register on the website, and you'll get an email with a Zoom link and password closer to the meeting date.
The Show and Tell session now is hybrid... the ones that people bring into the meeting room are shown, and the ones that are sent by photographs for the online folks are shown too. They do a really good job of managing hybrid meetings.

rose- how and where is it growing? inside or out, and in a saucer or no?
I have tried 20 different ways to grow various bulbos (i live in a humid place so they all work LOL) because i like to tinker and experiment.
if you can get them both airy and wet it is the best. a wooden basket with inorganic media sitting in a tray of water is my go to for the ramblers.

I have been Zoom-ing into those San Francisco OS meeting for the whole time that they've been doing it due to COVID, so a couple of years now. During that time they acquired quite a few members who don't live anywhere near San Francisco, so when they did start meeting in person a few months ago, they kept the Zoom going, and have been getting better and better at it. (First couple of hybrid meetings were a bit rocky, now it is really smooth). Along with even some more local folks not wanting to deal with COVID, they have also found that avoiding the commute into the city is attractive. One those is the gal who runs the Zoom part of Show and Tell - she lives well to the east, and is glad to not have to drive into the city. So the Zoom attendance is still quite a bit higher than the on-site attendance. And the programs are really good... well worth joining from afar, though membership is not necessary for attendance it is for access to recorded meetings, they record all meetings. And they even raffle some gift certificates that can be used from anywhere. So jump in!
