I am quite sure mine would not survive. The good news is Andy’s will be at the show so I’ll get to see and possibly buy some of his plants. Not the same as going to the nursery, but show patrons won’t miss out entirely. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.
Andy has an essentially infinite selection of plants at the nursery (not quite, but close... not gonna sell out...) so there are always more for another day, like the June open house. So no worries there... Your bank account will continue to be in mortal danger
I looked up the SD Orchid Society membership fees and plan to join this year. Is there any benefit to joining ahead of attending the show (I'm not interested in having any of my plants judged or displayed)? They'll have a table there where I can join, yes? Thanks!
I don't think there is a particular advantage of joining ahead of the show (but maybe there is... members may get discount tickets. I did but I have been a member for awhile). I joined for the Species Study Group that meets at members' homes on Saturday morning which for me is do-able, no way could I make it to general meetings through traffic. )
I do expect that they'll have a membership table. But it's so easy to join online.
I will take another look at the membership page. I didn't realize that the "pay online" buttons also allowed you to sign up. I assumed it was a way to enable people to pay without having to mail a check with their paper application but that I'd need to send in the printed application either way.
I'm unlikely to attend many in-person meetings, but I want to support the org.
