First bloom is opening
This is a phal that i have had for about 2 years. Was a gift that as usual dropped its flowers after a mo or so. I repotted it last spring and it (along with 3 others) sent up a spike. So happy to see i figured i would share.

Thanks. Super fun how phals seem to talk to each other. I have a orchid friend who swears his talk and all bloom together. Regardless of time of year, time between last blooms etc. All three of mine are blooming right now. I attached a better photo also

The most enjoyment I get from reading your post are not the blooms but your excitement, joy and the sense of being rewarded by what you've done. That's what orchid growing is about for me.

I used to keep salt water reef fish tanks. Don't have the time and space for that now but orchids give a similar sense of satisfaction.

Salt water aquariums are a very demanding hobby...I used to have fresh water tanks when I was a kid and always though of salt water tanks as an hobby for experts.

That photo was a 5-6 year old tank. Each coral
Started as a “frag”. About a 1” piece the size of your pinky. The blue prostrata was about 2’ across and the undata was the size of a dinner plate. Had I broken them unto frags and sold them all that tank was probably worth $50-$75k. Unfortunately i had an issue that lead to the tank crashing but was fun while it lasted. That was a 275 gal display. About 350 gal total with filtration.
