Orchids are very weak feeders, and the mantra is feeding weakly weekly but very dilute solution AND when the plant is in growth. Take a look at your fertilizer container to see the N:P:K - that is the ratio of nitrogen (which promotes growth), phosphorus (promotes roots), and potash (which helps flowering). You need the N an K to be reasonably balanced so if you are feeding high nitrogen and low potash the plant will put on heaps of growth at the expense of flowers.
