Spots on Zygo leaves
Default Spots on Zygo leaves

I had to bring in my orchids due to a lot of wind and dropping temperatures, I noticed tonight browning on the edges of the leaves on my new growth and a large brown spot on one mature leaves... help! What am I doing wrong?

I can barely see a couple of spots on leaf sides. Not enough to see closely though. Those are some of the cleanest zygo leaves I've seen in awhile. They're notorious for black spotting.

But brown on edges... how cold was it when you brought them in? Probably just a little trauma from the cold/wind. It looks okay to me.

It dropped into the 40s but when I brought them in it wasn’t quite that low. The only one I’m concerned about is one large one that popped up pretty quickly

Had you looked at it recently, and they weren't like that prior to the temp drop? It really doesn't look bad to me... more like a little cold damage. They're a thin-leaved plant. At 40F and windy, probably cold just nipped it a bit. They also like it really humid, and with the wind being high that could also have caused it.

Just keep watching it and don't mess with it too much. A friend of mine who grows a lot of them top dresses with a little dolomite lime in spring and fall.
