How long does a catasetum take to wake?
Default How long does a catasetum take to wake?

Hello All!
I acquired a catasetum, my first one, last year around october. i recieved when it was well into dormancy, without any leaves. so i removed all the dry roots, leaving the ones which were still not dry.
I am reading that a lot of catastinae wake up around this time, but my bulb looks dormant even now. it has not shrunk or anything.
should i be worried?
we have had a cold wave and cold weather lately, is this why it has not come out of dormancy?

Most of mine are still dormant. Different plants break dormancy at different times, but at least where I live, it is still very early. I don't expect to see much action for another month or two, it may be three months before most are ready to water. Patience...

You have a lot of waiting to do! It can be a little hard with Catasetinae!

First you have to wait for it to show signs of growth, then you have to wait another two months or so before you can start watering. Patience is the name of the game to grow these well.
