Good thing I didn't cut off the "old spikes".
Also, the baby is really attached to the mount now and is definitely getting bigger.

Nice! Moral to the story, don't be in a rush to cut things! Yes, the spikes of Microterangis (I have M. hildebrandtii, flowers look similar) look "done" until they start popping flowers.
