Last week I received my first paph as a Christmas gift and it is in bud. I know, I know, patience... but OMG is this going to have more than one flower??
I'm not having much luck finding info online about whether it is a multifloral type. It's was ordered as a random bulldog, tag says Pacific Red x Enzan Kitty. The bud doesn't look very red and it is opening so. darn. slowly. Predictions?
I look up hybrids at orchidroots.com. This site shows parents, plus breaks down hybrids into the parent species. You can get an idea of your plant with this information.
Pacific Red has ancestors in several groups, including a multifloral ancestor. Enzan Kitty doesn't have multifloral ancestors.
You can see three buds. This is most likely what you will get. You won't know the color until the buds unfurl. Some Paphs have color on the inside of flower surfaces different from that on the outside.
