Epc. Veitchii Leaf pinkish discolor

A purplish discoloration has appeared on a leaf of my Epicattleya Veitchii. Any thoughts on what has caused it? The plant came with a few black spots on the leaves; I've heard that's normal and they haven't changed since I got the plant so I'm not worried about them. But there's a purplish discoloration that seems to be inside the leaf; it's just appeared and I'm wondering what it's a sign of.

Could it be anything to do with light levels? It's in an east-facing window but the light is fairly low on these rainy November days. I don't want to get into high science and expensive equipment, and I have been experimenting with with daylight bulbs, trying to get more light onto my orchids. Is this a sign I'm overdoing it, or ... ?

Aaah! Could have done. The windows are single-paned; I've tried to protect (outside temp is hovering just above freezing) but even with the curtains drawn it could easily get down into the 50s F during the night. The plant sits about 6-12 inches (15-30 cm) from the window. I'll try moving it a little further into the room.
