poll: place your bets on blooming/time
ok, here’s hopefully something a little fun
place your bets on blooming. there’s no reward, other than the winner being awesome or lucky or both. posting one pic of our most recent phal acquisition, a violacea alba x speciosa coffee.
details: plant received from schwerter orchideen on 02.09.21, so one week ago with one tiny spike started. no evidence of prior blooming (first time bloomer). see pic. oh, and edit to include plant was repotted immediately, which could may influence your guess....so repotted 5/6 days ago.
i don’t know how to make a poll, but i figured id set these parameters:
respond A: spike will die and no flowers
respond B: spike will produce 2-4 flowers and blast the rest. must provide date of first flower opening.
respond C: spike will bloom with 4 or more flowers. must provide date of first flower opening.
if B or C, winner will be closest to date of first flower without going over....think price is right.
there could be multiple winners....maybe nobody will even guess, in which case, you’re all losers!

well if the prize was to who could guess when it would flower I would take part but if the prize is to guess how many flowers or if they won't even make it, that would be like taking a guess how many stars are in the sky.
Flowering takes place over several days to weeks sometimes. It's rare that all flowers open at the same time

fo sho, but i had to make it interesting somehow! plus, please note both b and c must include date of first flower opening. but if you don’t want to play, you can’t win the prize!
mr. fakename is in the books with a vote...duly noted, and thanks for playing this extremely important game of chance!

A in unlikely, both violacea and speciosa keep their spikes, it would most likely stall and not die.
With shorter and colder days, plus the stress of being relocated and repotted, B seems like the best option.
I'd say you'll get 2 flowers on October 20th!

I'm gonna go with option A2 (spike will stall and make not flowers) or B.
If it does bloom, then I'm guessing first open bloom on Nov. 17th!
