Hope these are better - I was a bit excited when I took the first one, apologies!

I realise I know very little. But it really doesn't look like a root. Or at least not like any of the roots I've had so far - and this one has had A LOT now. And the one really poorly one that is growing a keiki didn't look like this either.

As Roberta says - patience. And I'll keep you posted.

Thank you all!

May I suggest you look at the thread, "Root Porn." This keeps me really encouraged because I have no flowers yet, just a lot of roots. I am excited any time I see my orchids do anything, so I love to browse this thread. Welcome to the OB. I am a neophyte as well

Sometimes I wish they weren't so cheap... but how could I leave them there for £5... and they're in nice condition too, apart from one looking like it had lost a fight with a bag of sawdust - covered in lumps of it! So I left the groceries all over the kitchen floor and dealt with the orchids - priorities!

I recently bought a T**co mini phal for £5. Was surprised with a mild floral scent in the morning only.

Come 2pm it loses its fragrance.
Amazing quality there compared to a few years ago.

Yes - this was the orange supermarket that starts with S! But I bought a beautiful arched mini from Tesco about 6 weeks ago, and another from sainsbury's - all for a fiver and all generally in nice condition!
