Default Beginner attempting a rescue, help!

Hello Orchid Board!

I am a novice when it comes to orchids and plants in general. I have one phal which is doing okay, It has 4 leaves and no bloom yet. I went to a friend's office today and in the break room I found a table full of dead and dying plants, however this orchid is still hanging on! I was given permission to rehabilitate it, and I was wondering if any of you know what kind of orchid this is, can speak to its current condition, and most importantly, have any advice on how I can bring it back to it's full glory?

Any and all advice and/or information is welcome! This is the only picture I have, will update this thread when I get the plant home.

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

It's a Phalaenopsis. It looks good other than not being watered enough. If there are drain holes in the container, I would thoroughly soak it now by putting it into a sink in a bowl of water for an hour or two, then letting it drain. Then don't do anything else until you read some pages in a sticky thread here.

Especially don't repot it yet and don't cut off any roots.

From the left yellow menu pick Forums then Beginners. Near the top look for The Phal abuse stops here.

After reading a few pages come back here. Phals need warmth all year, low light, lots of air at the roots, loose potting medium and plenty of water.
