Grown this species before. It doesn’t grow cool. Nothing below 65 F. Growing below 65 F can cause problems with leaf drop. It is an intermediate to warm grower (65 F - 90 F).

I know I’m late to the game by several months, but you got an answer!

Oh, and I know Jay says it’s a medium sized plant, but it totally isn’t! This species is a BEAST!!! I currently have a blooming sized specimen that is about 3’ tall and 3’ wide!

It also seems as if it actually has a winter dormancy period.

I had one potted in pumice, watered every day by a sprayer. I don't think it was enough water. Next time wet sphagnum.

Ecuagenera offers them occasionally. They are small seedlings. In past years I was told by an expert grower they tolerate any amount of heat if relative humidity is high. He said my occasional 116 F / 47C would not be too hot.

I think your extra low humidity is the problem, I mean 116f with like a humidity of 2% is a little intense…. I can’t see how any tropical orchids could survive that!

My growing area runs 60%-80%, sometimes 100% on cool winter nights. I use an evaporative cooler to try to keep it below 85-90 F / 29-32C.
