What would you do with this phal?
Default Update: What would you do with this phal?

I wanted to post an update and thank everyone here on OB for the advice with the phal rescue. I was patient (Roberta), used Kelpmax and an inverted baggie over S/H (Ray), and wound up chopping off the trunk (WaterWitchin) after the lower leaves turned yellow and fell off. It took a year, but look -- she's putting out a flower spike! We've got a basal keiki growing THROUGH an existing leaf, and a little leaflet popping out on the other side... but the leaves on top are large and healthy. We've come a long way, baby.

I think she's purple? Hard to remember now. So thank you, all, for helping make the world a little more beautiful.

Nice save! And with that basal growth (not really a keiki, it's part of the plant sharing the root system) , when it gets a little bigger, yet another place where you could get a spike, making an even better display. Looking forward to that spike bursting into bloom in a couple of months or so.
