Default This is a weed right?

Okay probably the dumbest question ever but I figure I would check rather than assume.

This little plant is growing out of my clowesia pot. I received it a few months ago from SunSetValley Orchids and it's not growing off the main plant.

So before I pull it out .. can you confirm that this is a weed and not a miniature clowesia growing?

It looks very much like a miniature clowesia to me but I assume if it was it would be growing off the main plant rather than independently .

Thank You

That's a new growth on your Clowesia. Don't pull it off. Sometimes they grow from very far down the parent pseudobulb.

I am guessing it is a clowesia growth coming from the very base of the larger p-bulb. I would not remove it.

I don't have any Clowesia. But I kind of agree with the OP that it looks like a seedling to me. I've had bad luck trying to pull little orchid seedlings that size from the base of a bigger orchid. Most often they ended up shriveling up after removal. I'd let it keep growing till it gets a couple small p-bulbs developed before trying to remove it. Looks very much like the Catasetum and Mormodes seedlings that have germinated around my house.

Thank you. I'll leave it alone now that I know it's not grass.

I get these little guys frequently. Not a weed. It will make a beautiful addition to your collection.
