Which species can be mounted and which cannot?

Intermediate beginner here. I'm slowly running out of table space, and I am considering wall mounts. I have 2 Phalaenopsis, and several dendrobiums, as well as one oncidium. (Sorry for my spelling.) Can any of these be mounted? If so, which mounting techniques and materials are advised? Thanks.

Are you growing in a house or in a greenhouse? Almost all mounts not in a terrarium need to be watered at least once a day, and often more if the relative humidity is not high. This includes when you're on vacation or very tired.

People typically handle the indoors lack of space problem by setting up shelving with lights or getting a greenhouse.

Like ES points out mounts need a lot of watering. Some like this. Depends how much watering you have to do.

You can also hang up 8cm pots. you can either hang them with screws or get a metal wire frame to hang them on. 8cm pots are not too heavy but I wouldn't go bigger.

I do this but make sure they are attached securely. I've dropped a hanging orchid or two accidentally when not secured properly and usually there is an orchid growing underneath.

Another good way of creating more space is using small shelves in corners. If you look out for a mini bathroom shelves for shampoo's and stuff you can usually find something suitable in the right size that would give you added space.

A lot of people use wire basket shelving units because you can fit a lot of orchids in there on top of each other

Like the others said, humidity and ease of watering is best for mounted orchids. An alternative is hanging the orchids. This is a link to amazon with a bunch of fun ideas:

All orchids that are epiphytes, lithophytes or semi terrestrial can be mounted. Terrestrial cannot

The better question is should you.

I grow outside in zone 10b and I have all those genus mounted. Humidity never really gets below 50 usually in 70% range so it does the work for me to an extent.

As the others said. Your conditions and habits are a lot more important

Every plant, period, whether it's terrestrial, non-orchid or what not, could be mounted. The medium acts to preserve moisture and nutrients. You could grow anything in hydroponic mediums without soil. So the only question is then how are you substituting the conditions that the medium provides? You'd need some way to trap moisture. Maybe a little bit of moss under it does it. Or maybe you'd need to put it by a humidifier or in a terrarium. Or maybe you live in Florida and it's naturally humid. Or your conditions are stagnant and water on surfaces take longer to evaporate. Etc.
