There are these little spots all over one corner of a window sill. They look like either insect eggs or droppings. The question is what insect? I'm guessing mites, but does anyone know for sure?
Termite frass? Check the wood around the windowsill.
I've seen termite frass before and I don't think this is it. It's not aggregated in a pile but rather spread out evenly. Some of the red dots are on the plants, but I could easily wipe them off with my hands. It's also not the color of wood, but a translucent white and red spots, and larger than the size of termite frass that I've seen.
I don't know what that stuff is but I took a picture of some cockroach poo for reference if it helps.
But I don't think I could distinguish between cockroach poo and mouse droppings, they look very similar and change color depending on what the animal dropping it has eaten.
We can probably only know for sure if there is enough information ----- such as close-up shots, and super-close-up shots with high resolution ----- of both the white/cream coloured specimens as well as the black coloured ones. Eg. with shade's photograph - we can see the components much more clearly than what we can see in the pic at at the start of the thread.
