Default Should I notify vendor or take a loss?

I got a plant recently from a vendor whom have sold me otherwise healthy plants. This turned yellow not long after I received it and the stem just disappeared from inside out. It just flopped over, and if I touch it, it feels empty. Naturally I took a picture and threw it out.

Now the question is should I notify the vendor and try to get some redress, or just take it as a loss? Like I said, I've bought over a dozen plants from him and never had a problem until now.

Absolutely contact the vendor, especially if it is a new arrival. If you’ve had it for more than a few weeks, the issue may have been initiated after receiving it.

Let’s face it, sometimes even the best vendors screw up. If they are worthy of their reputation, they’ll be anxious to resolve the issue.

If it happened during your care, still let them know, as there may be an issue in their culture that, while not being the reason the plant died, could have weakened it, allowing “your” pathogen to take hold.
