Hi, I am new to orchids, live in mid FL, have mostly had the common phalaenopsis orchids but last year bought a young Marcia Foster pink 'picotee'. Since last year it has grown, and produced lots of healthy leaves but never a flower.

Might this be due to insufficient light? I don't know if this type of orchid needs more light / warmth or more shade. It lives on my lanai and gets indirect sun through the screen.

Thanks for your help.

First, Welcome!
A young plant just needs patience. If it is growing well, it may just need to get larger.

This is a Cattleya hybrid and needs bright sunlight and warm temps. What do you have it potted in? How often are you watering? Are you feeding? If so, how much how often? All of these will affect how the plant grows.
If it is growing, it may just need to mature a bit. Someone else with more knowledge than me will surely be along soon.

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

As mentioned above, Cattleyas need more light than Phals. And it might not be old enough to flower. How big is it?

This plant was about 6" tall when I bought it. Now the tallest leaf is about 13" tall. I give it orchid food about 2x/month. Potted in orchid mix with sphagnum moss on top and sides of slotted orchid pot.Lc Marcia Foster Picotee doesn't bloom-marcia-foster-picotee-2-jpg

If you live in central Florida, I would think the sphagnum is not necessary. At least, not that much. Your humidity levels should be high enough without it. I live on the gulf coast and don't use it at all. My plants potted in bark are doing remarkably well. Our humidity levels are similar.

I don't think the plant you show is old enough to flower. Maybe on the next one or two new growths.
