For Oncidiums, check Olympic Orchids. They sell seedling size mericlones for less than $10. Many will flower in 2 years or less. I would stay away from the warmer-growing ones like Onc. Mendenhall.

See if you can recall/remember the condition of the roots and media (deep down into the pot). It's possible that the roots didn't get enough oxygen if the media was too watery. Regular roots (ie. not ones that are adapted to wetter and lower oxygen conditions) generally can't handle long term wet media.

Also - media temperature too low can lead to problems as well. But just assuming temperature was ok.

Need lot of patience to grow seedlings and do the seedlings survive with repotting? i usually repot after getting new ones to avoid bringing home pests. Yess! I will look into ordering Oncidiums from Olympic Orchids.

I don't repot seedling-sized mericlones until they outgrow the pot. It harms them. The ones from Olympic are in nearly-new sphagnum moss. Oncidium seedlings grow rapidly. I keep them quite moist and well fertilized.

I see that's what I thought seedlings are sensitive and cant handle repotting. Good to know they are potted in new sphagnum moss. I will order one for myself.
