Vanda with fungus? Male
Default Vanda with fungus?

I recently purchased two vandas a couple of months ago. One has grown several roots and even a flower spike; however the other one has barely pushed out roots. When observing it I noticed several black spots on both sides of its leaves. Around one of the spots, the leaves seem to be yellowing. I am new to growing vandas and I am unsure if this could be some sort of infection. All spots are seen in pictures . Thank you for your help

Fungus in Vandas is common in high-humidity areas, but very uncommon in low humidity areas. This looks more like leaves dying around damaged areas. Some have nicks and scratches near the black areas. One black area is near a leaf that is split.

Splitting Vanda leaves are caused by insufficient water reaching the plant. Most of the time that's because of not enough watering, but if all the roots die, it can also happen. Bare-root Vandas hanging in baskets need to be watered every day.

I see; thank you for sharing all of your knowledge with me. I water both of mine everyday and fertilize weekly so I guess it may just be damage from before I got it. Such a beautiful plant; I just want to make sure I am caring for it properly. Thank you once again for all of your help. You are a savior to many on here
