wisdomseeker for what it's worth I have an electrical timer that has been going strong for 18 years but I finally decided to retire it last year and replace it but it still works.

Eighteen years... that's fantastic! Definitely worth their weight in gold when they work day-in & day-out for many years without problems. It amazes me that simple (inexpensive) mechanical timers perform like 'energizer bunnies'. They are little work horses.

Another device (that won't break the bank) and has been worth its weight in gold for me ~ surge protectors.
In the past, I've had quite a few LED drivers (and a few timers) fail prematurely due to power surges. Started plugging all the LED systems and timers into surge protectors for the last 5 years. Did the trick, no more failures.

Are your plant stands like baker racks? Or a different configuration?

At your latitude (weak sun), you could probably have your Catts in full sun if acclimated properly. Or maybe add 20% shade cloth.

The problem is that they would need to acclimate to the sun and putting them outside under the sun with no protection after a long period indoors would likely burn them.
