Default Claessen Orchids may be shipping to the UK in a few weeks

I didn't know where to put this, but after I emailed a few European vendors about a time frame etc, I got this email fr Claessen which probably most of us UK collectors have ordered from at least once. I hope this ends up happening.

Also if a mod thinks this is best elsewhere, please move it.

From what I read on the Durch orchid society FB group, Claessen is changing the focus of the company from orchids to aroids/house plants since those are very hot right now. I will try to find the info again to confirm but apparently they are not maintaining the orchid side of the business (or at a very low level), and basically just selling what remains in the greenhouse and not replacing with more. If you look at the 'new arrivals' page, there are nearly no new orchids on offer.

they have a good selection of classics but rarely new crosses which is all I have on my wishlist.
They have never had enough to get me to use them, I was tempted to get a specific clone of a moniliforme dendrobium, I see that sold out.

I just satisfied my new orchid craving by ordering some seedlings from the orchid alchemist which are looking really healthy. Some shops you order from and you can tell their staff have no clue how to look after orchids. If they have been sitting on the orchids for a while you can really tell but Andrew is just a small breeder I found last year and his plants have the healthiest roots I've ever ordered on seedlings - unfortunately not a lot of them but I added a couple a L anceps, the collection grows.

Shadeflower have you tried Elite Orchids? I've always had great specimens arrive in perfect condition for me. They mainly focus on Paphs, Phrags and Bulbos but have some Dens and some Dracula's.

I'll check out orchid alchemist.

Well that's annoying! Hopefully I can snag as many as possible before they sell out then!
