Time to repot this Oncidum Sweet Baby + Repotting arial roots
Default Time to repot this Oncidum Sweet Baby + Repotting arial roots

Hey folks! So I received this orchid a few days ago from OrchidWeb and I noticed that the roots seem to be sticking out of the pot quite a lot (picture attached). I’ve had some sources tell me this is normal and just how Oncidiums grow while others have told me that the roots seem to be growing to actively avoid the medium and that it requires a repot. The very tips od the roots are also dark brown and dry.

If I do end up having to repot, do I bury all the crazy arial roots or do I leave them sticking up?

Thank you in advance for the help!

Edit: Should I also cut off the brown tips on the roots? It doesn’t look like rot so much as dryness.

They do this when the pot is full. Repot it.

Don't cut orchid roots.
