Uploading directly to the forum by attaching images to your post is preferable, as the photos are stored in the forum database and will always be visible. While photos posted with external sites are nice (and do use it myself), if the person closes their account, or even just moves the photo to a new album, the URL link is broken and the image doesn't display in the posts anymore.
