Phalaenopsis Little dark spots only on bottom of leaves
Hi everyone, I’m new to owning orchids and I noticed one of my orchids has a lot of small dark spots just on the bottom of its leaves. Can anyone tell me what this is?
A lot of Phals have purplish freckles under the leaves. Some have mostly purple undersides.
Phals aren't difficult to grow, but they are different from other plants. A good thread for learning to grow them can be found here. From the left yellow menu choose Forums then Beginners. Look near the top for sticky thread The Phal abuse stops here.
To summarise, Phals need lots of air around their roots, lots of water, warm temperatures and low light.

A picture would really help. Barring that, can you describe them? Are they sunken, dry or wet, how big are they, will they come off if you gently rub with a damp cloth? There are a lot of possibilities: old mechanical damage, past or active infection, sooty mildew on sap or mealy bug secretions, or just pigment spots.
