My suggestion is to use very tiny amounts of a water soluble COMPLETE fertilizer. "Complete" means it contains all the micronutrients plants need, in addition to Nitrogen Phosphorus and Potassium (N-P-K). I use this at 1/4 the recommended dilution, every week. I'm not sure it is truly necessary for the plants, but it meets my needs!
Why make homemade concoctions when the plant's needs are pretty well known and easily met with a readily available commercial product? I struggle to prepare healthy meals for myself, I'm not cooking for the plants!
There are a lot of opinions on this, go slow and pick something that works for you.
