Black spot on orchid leaves, sunburn or infection?
Default Black spot on orchid leaves, sunburn or infection?

Hello!

My phalanopsis is starting to have black tipped appearance on older bottom leaves. Not sure if it is sunburn or something else. It was like this for about 1 month, started after I repotted it.

I already lost the second to the bottom leaf to same issue and now there are two leaves more showing similar symptoms. Too new growth leaves are doing great.

Help!

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

What are the day/night temperatures? Humidity? What kind of light is it getting? How are you watering and fertilizing? What is the potting medium? When was it last repotted?

It is very dessicated, as seen by the wrinkled leaves. It either has sick roots that can't take up water, or you're not watering enough.

Could the leaf tips have touched a cold window?

Phals love warmth, air at the roots, lots of water and high humidity - in that order of importance. There is a great thread here on learning to grow Phals. From the left yellow menu select Forums then Beginners. Near the top look for the sticky thread The Phal abuse stops here.
