orchid judging
hi all,
i havent put any of my plants into a show to be judged yet, but it is a thought thats crossing my mind. So i would like to know, what do they judge? i know its the flower but what aspects of the flower and plant specifically?

There are significant differences between show judging and AOS judging. With show judging, your plant is considered among other entries in a particular category ... for example white phalaenospis whereas in AOS judging you whhite phalaenopsis would be evaluated against international standards of perfection. Whatever type pf judging you consider, remember that a plant can not be evalated sitting on a bench in your greenhouse/growing. It has to be seen to be appreciated.
Good luck!

Go for it, Stefan!
make sure the plant is cleaned and staked nicely. If you get a ribbon, then "Wonderful!". If you don't, then at least you've tried, which is more than lots of folks ever do. It's a lot of fun to have your orchids shown like that.
What plant are you thinking of having judged?

sue i was thinking of trying a NOID, is that wise move, or do you need the name of it?

A NOID is okay for show judging (usually) but a verifiable id is needed for AOS judging.

unless you can confirm its name, your best bet will be to display the plant at a show or at your society's monthly show table
