Hey guys. Been reading for a bit from the side lines.
Today I found this fiery one from a local shop and brought it home. The tag didn't tell me what type of orchid it is. Can you tell me?
It was standing next to some Zygopetalums but I don't know that this is one. Thank you
Thank you, Ray.
I thought the lip had quite a resemblance to my Odontoglossum. Maybe that's why I liked it, since I'm not usually much of an Oncidium fan.
That is almost certainly a wilsonara hybrid - possibly Wilsonara Fuego ideal but difficult to say for sure - the pseudobulbs look different. But it is likely a wilsonara and you can follow oncidium care for their culture. Because of the cochlioda in them they do better with temperature fluctuations than most, but make sure you keep it wet in growth or you will get accordion foliage.
It looks like some photos Ive seen of Wilsonara Hilo Firecracker 'Bling'.
I bought one and its going to bloom in the next week or so. Im hoping it will bloom similar to your photo but I have seen other photos with the same name that were brown and orange and even one that was white with purple markings.
Mine is looking to be in the red range so far, a couple of buds are just colouring up.
