Default Catasetum questions

Hi everyone,

Two of my Catasetums haven't spiked yet and it's almost Dec. I'm guessing I may not be seeing any flowers from them this year?

You can see them here on this thread
Catasetums created two plants

The first and second Catasetum didn't spike but the third produced two and fully flowered.

My next question is regarding the old bulbs from prior years like 2019 and 2018. Is it safe to remove these old bulbs? I know to keep the bulb created this year in 2020 and hasn't gone dormant yet but the old ones that were growing in 2019 and 2018 . Can I remove them in 2021 when my 2020 bulb goes dormant? I need space to repot.

Catasetinae can flower at any time of the year depending on their genetic mix.

Do not remove old bulbs, they act as storage reservoirs for moisture and nutrients.

Your catasetums are still young. Leaving the older bulbs attached will help them spike in the future. Do not remove the older bulbs, rather get a larger pot to leave room for the new bulb to come.

As said previously, those plants look to young to chop up. However, I see no reason for larger pots on any of those plants. Maybe just pull the plants out and reposition in their current pots to get the plant in the middle.
