Phal looks like crazy spider
Default Phal looks like crazy spider

Im pretty new with orchids. I have them about 3 years already and they blooming twice a year. But still sometimes i feel like i missing something. So i need some help and advice. All my phals looks like spiders with aerial roots growing like crazy in all directions. Is it normal or plants need something? I have only mini ones. Are this pots big enough for them or i need to repot to bigger ones?
Thanks

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

Aerial roots are normal for Phals. But if the potting medium is heavy and decomposing, with no air spaces, the roots in there will die. The plant will make roots above the medium to try and stay alive.

Do those containers have drain holes? How do you water? Is the medium bark, and how old is it?

Yes its bark, pretty fresh. No holes. Roots in pots thick and green and a lot of them. Water when i see inside is dry and toothpick in the middle coming out dry too. Once in 2-3 weeks.

Sounds like you're growing them very well. Aerial roots are common in humid growing areas.

We look forward to photos of flowers!

I’d make a few holes in the pot to increase airflow but those look very healthy
