Dehydrated phal - Orchid Board

I have yet another orchid issue. This time, it’s an orange phal that I got from my sister. It’s being growing well for me for a few years, but I’ve noticed recently that its roots are shriveled. The leaves are fine, they look perfectly normal, but the roots are all wrinkly. We had a heat wave this summer, and I didn’t increase my watering, so that might’ve caused it. How can I help it? It’s potted in bark (although I’m going to mount it at some point) and sits in an east facing window.

It's very difficult to comment without a picture. Have you taken the plant out of it's pot? Are the roots in the pot mostly healthy? Do you have new roots forming? A few dried roots on the surface of a pot are not usually a problem, especially if the leaves indicate that there is enough water being taken up.

I’m not sure how to post a picture. Most of the roots are healthy, just wrinkled. It just finished growing some new roots. The new parts aren’t quite as wrinkled. It also has some black patches on the roots here and there, but those have been there since I got it three years ago and never caused any issues. I just took it out of the pot, and only found three dead roots. If I can figure out how to post a picture, I will.

I post from my computer, where my pictures reside. Below the posting box under, there is a button for "Manage Attachments". Click there, and you will see a "Browse" prompt open up. That will let you navigate to your photo and open it, and then upload it to your post. Good luck.
