HI, I'm a french in London. I have few orchids. I was given a nearly dead orchid but I managed to care of it and a offspring appear. The offspring stop to grow so I decided to repotted it and another offspring was growing. The main orchid bulb is drying not sure what I should do. I use bark and water it every week for more or less 5mn submerging the barks. And roots seams ok. Please any advice thanks

First, Welcome!
To help you, we need to know a little more... What type of orchid? Are you growing it in the house?

A photo will really help. I think that you need 5 posts to upload a picture. Any comment on any other post counts so it is easy to get to 5. Or, you can post a link to another location on the Web where the photo is stored.

Hi, thanks for messaging me back so soon. I added pictures but I didn't realise it was not uploaded. The orchid is growing inside the house. I am not sure which one is it but the bulb and leaves are similar to the epidendrum orchid. I never saw the flower of this orchid yet.

When you upload photos (from the Go Advanced option on the message dialog box) you can browse to the photo. Then you do need to click the Upload button. The Manage Attachment dialog where this happens should show you when the photo is uploaded the bottom of that pop-up box)

Excellent! I suspect that the plant is in the Oncidium group. And I see a new little sprout, which is an excellent sign. These do tend to like to stay on the damp side - the bark is a bit large, but that may help root growth because there is lots of air, which orchids like... How often do you water it? It is possible that it just isn't getting enough. The new growth will produce new roots. But the plant looks quite healthy. Good save!

That may not be often enough... If I am right about its being in the Oncidium group, it needs to still be a little moist when you water again. I suggest holding under the faucet, letting the water run through the pot which also flushes out any accumulated fertilizer or hard-water salts, and pulls air into the root zone. And twice a week would at least... more if it is hot. These do require more water than Phalaenopsis or Cattleya.
