My dendrobium is developing a second spike. Female
Default My dendrobium is developing a second spike.

I think my dendrobium phalaenopsis is developing a second spike next to it's current spike which just fully bloomed.

Do you think I'm correct about this? The three pictures attached are different light angles of what I am seeing, it's down below next to it's current spike / stem of flowers.

One picture is the orchid currently.

I'm just wondering. I've never heard of this happening ( if I'm correct ) so do you think this is a result of the fact that this guy hadn't bloomed in over 15+ years ?

The Latouria group of Dendrobiums can rebloom from the same stems for many years. I think your plant has Latourias in its ancestry.

That is super cool. Thank you! It's so pretty and it may bloom again. I'm so stoked.

Sweet! Good info to know. I didn't know about spikes from old spikes so don't cut them if they are green. Got it!

WOW!!!Its absolutly stunning. I give you a lot of credit for being SO patient with this orchid. It does look like a spike but I defer to other, more experienced, members opinions.
