Indoor setup for Vandaceous and high light plants

Haha I wouldn't call that "talent", I didn't do anything particular.
I mounted the lightbulb, added lava rocks (cause local stores asked an outrageous price for LECA) and re-placed the orchids; at this point I don't even know if it'll be effective.

I currently have Vanda merrillii var rotorii, Vanda luzonica, Vanda foetida, Vanda cristata and Rhynchostylis coelestis "blue".
And Phalaenopsis hygrochila, that is grown in Vanda conditions thanks to Roberta's advice.

Vanda are seedlings, but I grow them just like the older Rhyncho: full sun, lots of heat, lots of water.

I've had other several Vanda in the past, from hybrids like Mimi Palmer to species such as denisoniana or brunnea; and honestly I don't think they're that hard.

As long as they're kept in the sunniest post, aren't allowed to dry for extended periods of time and have very good drainage they do fine.
The main problem in my conditions is extremely low RH so I have to pot them or they're bone dry in a matter of hours.

Some people grow amazing plants indoors with the vase technique, I'm sure you'll find plenty of advice on the Vanda subforum.

Living in the Northeast United States, I always assumed I shouldn't bother trying to grow vandas unless I got a light setup. I thought vandas were something best left to the Floridian growers, with their ample sun and humidity. However, I've had several now and found that they are very easy to grow without additional equipment. I now have a grow space with lights, but I've found that some even bloom better sitting in my eastern facing windows all year. I know the Netherlands is still a bit north of where I live, but we have cold and gloomy winters that last a long time too and I haven't had any issues getting mine to bloom every year, sometimes multiple times per year. Unfortunately my main problem has been finding vandas I like available to buy in the area...

Have you tried buying vanda's online? There are several sites I routinely buy from. I am impressed with their quality and price. They are Brookside, Seattleorchid, and orchidweb.
