Hey VegetalMatter I'm in Austin as well so howdy neighbor!
I'm late to this but wanted to throw you in some of my own optimism . In 2017 my aunt passed away and she had two orchids she left me in her possessions. I started trying to take care of them about 2018 . By 2019 my orchid grew a pretty impressive p.bulb compared to what it had and it started to spike. I was VERY excited but then that dang spike died. I came here asking the same question .
Anyways this year it grew another , even more impressive p.bulb and a spike. It's now a spike of 20 something flowers ( this picture is a bit old ) and gorgeous flowers. Purple and green. I maybe wrong because I'm new too but I think it probably came back stronger than ever.
