Wilted Mini-Phalaenopsis, Any Hope?

I bought this phalaenopsis from Trader Joe's yesterday and since it was so hot 100F, I put it right beside me in the car with the airconditioning blasting on it and I would turn off the engine and go down and do errands, where the car would turn scorching hot.

I was so stupid and didn't realize what I was doing. Anyway, today it wilted even more than yesterday.

What should I do? Is there a way to revive it? In order to prevent overwatering or rotting roots which has always been my problem, I put it in a plastic cup with lots of holes. And so, I watered it yesterday and then today again - immersing it in water for maybe 1/2 hour. The skewer was almost dry today.

Also why does watering other orchids on Friday afternoon in the extreme heat and watering it again yesterday - Sunday, cause the healthy empty stems to die and blooms to wilt? The pots I use have holes on the sides and bottom.

The plant itself looks fine. I wouldn't worry. Just give it good care, and it is highly likely to recover and grow well. The flowers were probably fatally injured in the heat, but it took a while for this to become apparent.

Should I just wait for the flowers to die and drop? I just noticed the leaves are getting soft, expecially the top ones. What should do to make them harden up?

I would cut off the flower spike. I would set the pot in a container of water for a few hours every time it goes dry. The existing leaves may never lose the wrinkles, but if the heat didn't cook the plant, it will make new leaves that are fine.

I did something similar last year. Mine perked back up quite a bit overtime. I lost the open flowers but the smaller buds ended up making it. I tend to leave spikes on struggling plants: I haven’t had a Phal bloom itself to death and it’s a source of resources the plant can re-allocate or a life boat if it ends up wanting to produce a keiki.
