Default Are there eyes on cattleya's rhizome

I read it somewhere that there front and back eyes on cattleya's rhizome. Can someone set me strait.

Yes that is where the new growth will come from , usually from one of them , if it is damaged then the other one takes over producing the new lead . Gin
