NOIDs or No NOIDs?

Quiltergal and Orchidhunter said it very well. There is something about knowing the lineage that I find kind of neat.

The reason I like species, is that they grow somewhere in the wild, all by themselves! That is more of the reason I love species orchids and native landscape plants. It ties us to past centuries and a long list of men and women that came many years before us and the orchidboard! Wow, what a thought. That's deep, orchidhunter.

Name tags are also a determining factor in whether I purchase a plant or not. When faced with two nearly-identical dark-coloured Spatulata Dendrobiums, I opted for Den. Black Dragon instead of Den. Mickey Mouse, because the name was so much cooler!

I so totally agree with Orchidhunter!

I purchased one tagged, Lc. Golddigger 'Fuchs' Mandarin x LC Jungle Elf, for the comic value alone. It was well worth $9.99 and had really lovely blooms too.

I really enjoy researching the new orchids that I bring home. It's just fun and interesting. I love entering the data in spreadsheets and such. I know, it's sick-o.

Well mark my words , It wont be too long and there will be a noid category at your local show .We already have some members pushing for this to happen .

No ID orchids bring as much pleasure to the beholder as named plants.

Problem arises when you want to use a No ID in hybridizing.

Also, award systems - AOS, RHS, etc. require that proper identification of the parents (of a hybrid) or verifiable taxonomic information for a species.
