The Maui Orchidarium comes with either 2 lights or 3 lights and you can call and talk to the owner and he can guide you. I guess it depends on what your needs are.

Ranchnanny, how are the shelves supported? Can you move the shelves in the future? Thanks!
BEAUTIFUL setup by the way!

The orchidarium that I bought comes with 3 shelves. You can get a different configuration I think if you talk to the owner. The shelves are mounted on brackets which are in place already. The shelves can be removed at anytime. You can add shelves I suppose. I purchased a panel of egg crate shelving at Lowes at a cost of apprx. $11. But I haven't used it yet. There are mounts all along the top for hanging mounted orchids.
I hope this helps. Need more info just ask

The "warm" and "cool" light bulbs are referring to the emitted spectrum, not how much heat they give off.
"Warm" bulbs have a phosphor that gives more of the red end of the spectrum, while "cool" leans toward the blue. Neither is ideal for plants, so that's why the mix them.

The cool lights are for growing, and the warm are for blooming

Katie, it is difficult to see if there is a door because the acrylic is so clear. I'll see what Ranchnanny says!

Hi! I am 99% positive that it has doors or else you wouldn't be able to keep the humidity up or if it was just a solid front piece it would be a pain to get the orchids in or out...and I think they are designed to funtion easily. I know that Sheridan (Ranchnanny) posted pictures in a previous thread when she first got the orchidarium, it does look very nice! If you do a search on here or look in her Gallery you may be able to get some better pictures of the doors...that is if I am correct.

Hello,
Your orchidarium looks very nice, but I was wondering how do you access the orchids after they are inside the unit? Are there doors, or does the unit have to be taken apart?
I have looked at your excellent photos and on Orchidarium's web site and I can't seem to figure out how to get to the orchids...
Thank you, MZ
