Question about light exposure Female
Default Question about light exposure

I purchased several new Paph seedling community pots over the weekend, including micranthum, malipoense, Fumi's Delight, and delenatii. My current orchids are receiving eastern light on my kitchen counter with a light shade and do quite well.

However, I do not have any more room on my counter for the seedlings. I do have another eastern windowsill that is frosted but still provides very bright light. Will it be okay to put my seedlings on the windowsill or will this light scorch my babies?

Thanks!

I would think that would be fine. My Paph's are bigger and sit in a south window and if sun shines, they get full sun. So I would think east would be OK. You could always drop a sheer curtain over window to be sure.

Thanks Ross. I was a bit concerned because it seemed like the pots became very warm/hot this morning sitting on the windowsill. Which leads to my next question...will the water evaporate faster, and if so, should I water more frequently?

I will find a sheer fabric to place over my window if I notice any burn. I'll see how they do over the next week.

Obviously if full sun hits pots, they will become warm to the touch. For me, I don't worry about it. But I'm not doing seedling Paphs. I do have seedling Brassavolas that get full, full sun and also grow kinda reddish and are doing just great (except for one that got sunburnt and croaked ) But that's part of learning, I think.
