Root or Flower Spike?
Default Root or Flower Spike?

Based on the videos I've watched I'm guessing FS, which is really shocking to me since this plant already has 3 very vigorous spikes. I know time will tell but I want your opinion. What do you think?

I love this little plant, it is a continual delight.

That is a root, still a great sign of a healthy plant though! You can't have flowers without roots!

Thanks guys! When it first started growing I did think it was a root and I was SO happy to see it. This is my first orchid and to see how much it has grown in the months that I've had it is so rewarding.

How can you tell it is a root and not a spike? I eventually changed my mind to spike because it started to look really pointy.

it is pointy, but not spike pointy, the end of the Phal spike has layers of plant material over one another and it is more of a sharp point as opposed to here where, while points, it is very rounded at the tip...the color also, the differentiation between the root and the growing tip.

it will come to you...this is your first orchid so you have simply not seen as much

I thought so! It's hard to believe since this will be flower spike #4.
