Can I use weed tea to fertilize my orchids

So I’m in the process of making this weed tea. Not cannabis tea but garden weed tea.

It’s where I take weeds that have never been sprayed and I put them under water and after a month they soak all the nutrients from the weeds into the water. And then you dilute that one to 10. It contains nitrogen phosphorus magnesium and a few other beneficial nutrients. Can I water and fertilize my orchids with this?

i wouldn't do that personally. who knows what bugs and critters you're giving a ticket straight into your prized orchids

It may be beneficial for your lawn, or it may not. You will never
know what you have got with this scheme.

MM ----- if in doubt, or uncertain ------ then use the same trick as painting or patching something up. Try it on a small region first. In this case, try it one 1 or 2 orchids. And if no adverse affects after a relatively long time, then can try it out on more.

I've never heard of "weed tea". Is it something you found on Facebook?

i will put weeds in my compost and i have made a soak out of that....there's a lot more than just weeds in that though

Do you boil or sterilize this fertilizer tea in any way? If not, I wouldn't put it on orchids. Orchids can be persnickety about conditions, so I wouldn't stray too far from the tried and true.

If your orchids don't like your tea, orchids are slow to show changes so they might hate your tea and die very slowly from it. If you experiment with a couple of orchids, do not declare it to be safe for several months. It could take months for your orchids to die from it if it turns out to be bad for them.

Yeah, I'd be worried about potential bacterial/mold contamination from the "tea". Microbes love the nutrients that would be in there. But you would also be getting any environmental microbes that are on your lawn.

I can't say about orchids, but I always use this tea for my lawn. I always try to keep my lawn in order. I read a lot of information on the Internet, including about the selection [REDACTED] I have a little experience, and I try to watch more experienced people who tell a lot of useful things about caring for the lawn and garden.
