New onc. Sharry baby sweet fragrance
Hello! I just purchased an oncidium sharry baby sweet fragrance. This is my fist real oncidium. Does anyone have any tips for me? I was told to let it dry completely in between waterings. It is not in spike, but it a fairly big size, with a mature pseudobulb that has never flowered, and an almost developed pseudobulb, as well as a new shoot. When can I expect this to bloom?
Thanks

Oh your going to love this one! I let mine dry out between waterings but I have mine in sphagnum (that reminds me, I need to re-pot put mine in bark, thank you) it might bloom off the developing pseudobulb once it matures.

You'll love this one. It blooms twice a year for me. I give it fairly high light (lots of full and partially shaded Hawaiian sun), intermediate temps (this time of year gets 65 at night and 85 during the day) and I water every day, thought it dries out between waterings because of the of the slits in the pot that I make, the warm temps, the constant breeze and the very large wood chips that its potted in. Mine sends out a spike a few weeks after the p-bulb matures and then you'll have flowers a few weeks later that will then last for a few weeks!! Basically, you'll have flowers every 6 months or so if the plant is happy!! Good luck!!

I too think you'll love this plant! I've had mine for about three years now. It's huge! It bloomed very nicely for me this year but unfortunately, the darn squirrels ate the spikes off! Not to worry though, it's already put up four more new p-bulbs - so on to the next bloom season!

I just realized I mixed up the orchids I just bought on eBay I bought the Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance' compot with three (3) seedlings from The Orchid Gallery. The mature 9 year old orchid I bought was the Phal. 'Ever Spring Prince' from Baldan Orchids. Either way I'm still looking forward to them all.
